Today is Giving Tuesday, a day for people across the world to give back to their communities and help their favorite charities. The IAM’s favorite charity, Guide Dogs of America/Tender Loving Canines, is kicking off its Holidays of Hope fundraiser and is asking for your support.
Each donation you make today will directly benefit a veteran, a person who is visually impaired, or a child with autism who desperately needs the life-changing confidence, love, and hope that a service dog provides.
Guide Dogs of America/Tender Loving Canines also covers the travel costs for students when they come for a class, and today they are launching their Miles on a Mission campaign.
Through United Airlines’ Miles on a Mission program, you can donate your unused airline miles to GDA/TLC to help these students, and for today only, when you donate your MileagePlus miles, United Airlines will match you, mile for mile, up to 100,000 miles.
Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Whether helping a neighbor or giving to your favorite cause, every act of generosity counts!
GDA recently completed a merger with Tender Loving Canines, and now provides hardworking service dogs for people who are blind/visually impaired, veterans, and individuals with autism, and facilities to become trusted companions that bring confidence, independence, and mobility. Their services are provided free of charge to residents in the U.S. and Canada.
