IAM District 70 Golf Tournament Drives Support for Guide Dogs of America
NEWTON, KS , IAM District 70 members, families, and supporters gathered today at Sand Creek Station Golf Course for the annual IAM District 70 Golf Tournament, raising funds to support Guide Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines and its mission of providing service dogs to people in need.
Golfers spent the day enjoying friendly competition while supporting a cause that has long been embraced by the IAM. Every swing, putt, and sponsorship helped raise money to provide expertly trained guide and service dogs at no cost to recipients.
Adding to the day’s excitement was special guest Barb Mashak, a dedicated Guide Dogs of America puppy trainer, who attended with Shadow, a puppy currently in training. Participants had the opportunity to meet Shadow, learn about the puppy raising program, and gain a firsthand look at the time, dedication, and care required to prepare future guide and service dogs for their life changing work.
Throughout the tournament, golfers were reminded that their participation extends far beyond the golf course. The funds raised will help Guide Dogs of America continue providing guide dogs for people who are blind or visually impaired, service dogs for veterans with disabilities, and highly trained assistance dogs for individuals and families across the country.
The tournament reflected the IAM’s longstanding commitment to service, community, and solidarity. Through events like this, IAM District 70 continues to demonstrate that when union members come together, they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
